Hunziker’s latest counterpunch is 99% straight C&E, a pure distillation of the relentless collating work Pan-O does here day after day, but Hunziker ends with this:
“Consequently, governments of the world are massively beefing up relief agencies to help their citizens. Trump is Gutting Weather Science and Reducing Disaster Relief, The New York Times, July 12, 2025, as he gooses up the wallets of billionaires via obscene tax cuts that will blow up America’s deficit like a hot air balloon. Watch for it to burst. This is presidential?”
Huh? Say what? “Massively beefing up relief agencies”? They iz? Really? Umm, you sure ‘bout that? Cos to me it looks like the precise opposite, that governments of the world are massively beefing up their weapons of war to kill other governments’ citizens and leaving the transnational corporations in charge.
Head-spinning.
Transnational. Exactly. Thank you for that. There is no such entity as a Multinational Corporation.
Meanwhile, here in the USA, the MSNBC pundits froth at the mouth as much as Trucker Carlson over Epstein. Once again gleefully pouncing on another sex scandal even while children are being systemically targeted for State-sponsored execution by religious zealots with weapons the US supplies while mouthing empty self-serving platitudes.
In Bonesawdi Arabia, our ally, as Wei as many other Asian countries, girls as young as 12 are bought & sold like cattle, a well known fact, but the West cannot exist w/out their energy resources, so that’s just fine.
My sister was raped at a young age, then, decades later, murdered by her husband: Her children , as well as herself, did not equate the two; to those confused, who equate murder and rape, I would like to stand with my sister’s offspring to shout, “They are not the same!” You can, and most do, recover from rape (I did … more or less … well, let’s just say I agree with Dorothy Parker, “Might as well live”) … those murdered aren’t given that choice … while children shot in the head, execution-style with weapons supplied by us, do not go on to have children of their own, yet there is nothing even close to the feeding frenzy over these murdered innocents as there is over victims of sexual abuse.
The underlying reason is there for all to see, as pointed out by Guy de Maupassant in “A Woman’s Life”: “for the church, a corpse was a source of profit”. A truism to this day. Every religion profits from births, but each and every one of them takes in far more cash muttering mumbo-jumbo over a corpse. Is it then any wonder that religious institutions all over the world maintain a stony silence while women & children are being systematically slaughtered, yet pile on invective and clutch their rosaries in horror at even the thought of a trans athlete?
The propaganda of the first Transnational Corporations we prefer to call religions remains the same as it has always been:
While Sex is Evil, Murder and wholesale slaughter is Divine (GW Bush claimed God told him to do it, as he rained weapons of mass destruction made with depleted uranium onto the heads of Iraqi civilians … and not one church elder has ever condemned this blasphemy).
Rob, I may be misreading your comment. If it was indeed your sister who was raped and later murdered, then any words I begin to type ring trite and shallow in my own ears… FWIW, I am truly sorry.
The points you make about ubiquitous hypocrisy and double-standards are well taken.
Martin, I’m aware of zero beefing up here in the UK. There’s no one government fund for helping out people who are victims of climate change disasters; it’s all ad hoc and the sums are pretty measly. If you get flooded out, for example, the council might let you off paying council tax and you could be eligible for a £500 Community Recovery Grant.
Meanwhile, we are, as you say, splurging on weapons of war – £60 billion this financial year with further increases in the pipeline. We are also investing a cool £22 billion in carbon capture projects. Honestly, there aren’t enough “roll eye” emojis in WordPress to accurately reflect my feelings on that.
“The World Is Entering a Dark New Era of Hydroterrorism…”
TIL a new word: ‘Hydroterrorism.’
I mean, it makes sense. All the pieces to construct the terminology already exist: the concept of ‘water wars’, fighting over dwindling water resources, aquifer depletion, exploiting water shortages for power, the fact that the aforementioned has been flagged by climate scientists for aaaages, and so on.

A result of geoengineering, which is what starting a series of detonations in a billion ICE machines on a daily basis amounts to. But like “collateral damage”, one’s intentions are not actually the relevant point: if your country’s Luftwaffe kills 50 people to assassinate the groom at a wedding party, they claim collateral damage , even though they knew they’d be killing scores of people as well as the intended target, so somehow dropping bombs on people is okay as long as your intentions are good. The same applies to geoengineering; we may not intend to be geoengineering the climate when we start an engine (here in the US it’s currently “driving season”, accelerating geoengineering to accelerate our own sorry asses over a river of asphalt) but explosions, even those as carefully calibrated as those occurring under the hood, have repercussions that have as little to do with the “intentions” of our actions as we have for their known consequences (ie, none).
‘The idea that we might attempt large-scale experiments to cool the planet …”
who exactly is this “we?” If it’s corporations, they must, by law, make a profit, so gov’t, ie taxpayers must fund any experiments, while the US administration, before which every country grovels in obeisance, spits in your face with contempt by declaring climate change to be a hoax …. all the while being in full knowledge that it is anything but. The Chief Executive can, at such time when it becomes untenable to maintain that moronic assertion, simply claim he was being “sarcastic”, and not a word will dare be uttered as to the utter depravity of such a claim.
Rob, you could make a case that we’ve been geo-engineering the climate since we started on our post-ice age deforestation spree. 12,000 years ago 57% of the world’s landmass was forested; now it’s down to 38%.
Greenland and Alpine ice cores show evidence of significant lead and antimony pollution from Roman smelting… We’ve really been mischievous, planet-tinkering simians for a long time. I’m sure it’s in our nature to try some Hail Mary climate intervention when that looks like the best of our dwindling options.
“They couldn’t leave well enough alone,” would probably be a fitting epitaph for us Homo Sapiens.

Great honest headline (“Yes, climate change is probably going to kill you”) and excellent post.
What’s this probably, people speak of?
The last person living might be able to say; “They are dead to me.”
Saw the word wisdom today & started to wonder if wisdom is realizing that any one individual, & it’s ego are simply another pair of the 110,000,000,000 who have lived on this rock & that one & it’s offspring are not special & thinks it is beyond the consequences of it’s actions?
I’m starting to get really pissed off with the truth. Weather weirding is entertaining & it’s destruction calms me down because it will never affect me. 😉
