“Coming during the hottest year scientists have ever seen, the surge in atmospheric CO2 indicates that humanity may be [IS] losing a crucial ally in the fight against planetary warming, experts say. The land and oceans have historically taken up about half of the greenhouse gases people emit. Without these places that absorb CO2 — known as carbon sinks — global temperature rise would be twice the roughly 1.3 degrees Celsius (2.3 degrees Fahrenheit) the world has already endured.”
Ends with WEAK hopium! Progress
“Scientists are still collecting data on last year’s emissions and anxiously waiting to see what happens to the atmosphere in 2025. Yet the past year should be a warning about the toll of continued planet-warming pollution, Miller said. As long as people continue to emit greenhouse gases, temperatures will continue to rise, and the risk of unleashing carbon stored in the Earth creeps ever closer.
“We’re very fortunate that we have these chemical and biological systems that are absorbing a huge amount of what we emit, but there’s no guarantee,” Miller said. “[2024] is an example of that.”
Hey People, well now, what do we have here…it just fell in my lap
Carbon dioxide is routinely singled out as the climate villain, but it makes up only a tiny fraction of Earth’s atmosphere. Even so, we often hear that rising CO₂ levels will accelerate global warming. In this video, we take a closer look at the concept of CO₂ saturation—how carbon dioxide molecules can only absorb so much heat before additional CO₂ makes little to no difference.
Really, little all no difference you say?

Comments 1.8K…
I won’t post any of the almost 2,000 comments that are posted, but was impressed by the polished professional video presentation. It’s only about 2 minutes long and carries a powerful punch.
This campaign has been going on
In 2006, the Heartland Institute announced that it would no longer publicly declare its funders. However, leaked 2012 documents showed that donors such as software giant Microsoft and pharmaceutical firm GlaxoSmithKlein had given between $50,000 and $60,000 to the Institute. 6 Heartland also received $50,000 annual donations from the energy company ExxonMobil for approximately ten years until 2007. An anonymous donor contributed at least $7.2 million between 2008 and 2011. 4 In 2018, the Heartland Institute received more than $5.7 million in donations and more than $5.8 million in total revenue. 15
UPDATE: DeSmogBlog dove deep into the Mercer family’s climate denial funding about a month ago documenting $22 Million the family has funneled to climate denial organizations from 2008-2014. They are trying to out-Koch the Kochs in targeted climate denial spending in recent years.
They at least have good taste…sarcasm….🤮
Let’s not post this kind of bunk from the Heartless Institute, Vince. It just gets the blood pressure up.
For the record, C02 does not have a warming limit, even if it becomes progressively less effective at trapping energy as concentrations rise. Linnea Lueken’s claims about the paleo-record and climate sensitivity are directly contradicted by James Hansen’s recent work. Her background is in Petroleum Engineering btw.
As the WaPo points out, carbon sinks are already starting to fail at current emissions, so…
😔 so sorry, Pan…it did the same for me at one time too…
Like I mentioned had some back and forth with these hookwinks a while back.
Actually, I added the piece about their funding sources to make it more acceptable to our audience here.
Seems many companies that are socially responsible have a hand in them.
They had over 78,000 views with over 7,000 like for it…I almost did myself because I adore redheads with a touch of amber long locks hair…just kidding..not
You can delete it, no problem along with this…
I posted to get some steam out of my system..
That’s OK, Vince. I just resent giving these sorts of organisations the oxygen of my attention because their intention is not to examine the evidence with sincerity but to actively muddy the waters.
Any sort of engagement is a win from their perspective.
Thanks for your forgiveness 🙏
I’m disappointed many so called upstanding businesses, groups and others support their ideology. Be that it may, I won’t post such again, but can’t promise not to watch Linnea…

New report: Indian government plans spell disaster for uncontacted island tribe
One of the world’s most isolated tribes will be wiped out if the Indian government presses ahead with a mega-development project on their island, according to a new report published today.
The report “Crushed: How India plans to sacrifice one of the world’s most isolated tribes to create “the new Hong Kong”” is published by Survival International.
It warns that uncontacted Shompen people, who live only on Great Nicobar Island in the Indian Ocean, will not survive if the Great Nicobar Development Project goes ahead.
Bleak, Edward. I imagine that the project seems even more desirable now, as trade withers between strategic rival, China and the US. The top article mentions in passing the American influencer who recently tried to contact the tribe.
“Fears are growing that a remote tribe may still be in possession of a potentially deadly can of Diet Coke said to have been given to them by an ‘idiotic’ American tourist.” 🙄

Methane emissions are so high its the worst case scenario with models. This tells me everything i need to know. So they are going higher and faster and they think we can stop it or not go extinct right.
And let’s not forget nitrous oxide:
“…researchers found N2O emissions have accelerated greatly in the last 40 years… the average growth rate in 2020-2022 was more than 40 percent higher than from 2010 to 2019.”
“N2O emissions are accelerating faster than at any other time in human history and have surpassed even the most pessimistic greenhouse gas projections used by the IPCC.”
