Talking of water shortages, George, it has been relentlessly dry here in the Hebrides. I put down a load of grass seed in the garden a couple of weeks ago and I’m in and out like a yo-yo having to water it.
Ordinarily I love the island when it’s a bit drier. You stop getting peat run-off into the bay, so the waters turn all blue and gorgeous. And of course it keeps midge numbers down.
We’re on the worst possible timeline.

Not really, I’m an old Boomer. Doomie…Boy, did I luck out in the timeline, having consumed in my generation about 75% of all fossil fuels ever consumed and leaving the Hothouse Earth just in the nick of time….can’t be anymore pleased. I know, I know, it sucks 😭, but we did it because we could and will continue to do it for the same reason.
That’s too bad but Pano pointed the same out with overshoot…a gift that keeps on coming (sorry, Pun intended).
I’m just taken bad that all this is mostly oblivious to the general population.

I think it will be fascinating to watch when an American family of four needs to go from 552 gallons/day to 20 gallons/day. From 138 gallons/person to 5 gallons/person.
Have you looked around your property for the best place to build an outhouse? Have you ever tried taking a bucket bath? How far can you lug a five-gallon jug? Can you brush your teeth with just a small glass of water, or do you let the faucet run and run?
Conversely, I remember talking to a guy about saving water. He said that he just loves modern plumbing because he derives great satisfaction knowing that when he flushes his crap away==> his crap then becomes someone else’s personal problem to handle.
I would also bet that he never picks up his dog’s poop from his own lawn plus his neighbors’ lawns.
