A Heat Wave Will Cook Your Electric Car Battery, If You Let It… “
“…when temperatures climb, the ions in a car battery speed up. Once that happens, they often have trouble attaching to the anode or cathode. The pressure and speed can also create small cracks, which slow chemical reactions and make for less usable battery life… Cold weather also impacts EV batteries. Hello Pan,
Iraq now seems to be becoming the world’s biggest oil producer. The conundrum is of course that other ‘natural resource’ water, Let’s see who wins and at whose expense 🙂
It is a deeply tragic world so the end of the fossil era.
By the way, I saw that the Hebrides is having a mediocre summer so far and the forecast isn’t ‘brilliant’ now either. It just might. I can remember holidays in your area that were more reminiscent of autumn than summer.
Just a question what is the highest temperature you have ever experienced and how did you like it?
I myself lived for a while ( that’s different from just on holiday) in the border country of the Alentejo in southern Portugal on the border with Spain. Those are the areas that are now ravaging with temperatures well above 40 degrees….
It gave me although it was relatively long ago when temperatures were lower a ‘nice’ in look into how tough it is to get through the day in high temperatures. It’s terrible.

Zip, yes, we’ve had a very lacklustre few weeks of summer but preceding that was our hottest June on record. The relentless sun and lack of rain were eerie for a place characterised by unpredictable and variable weather. And it was very uncomfortable at times, given that humidity is often high; our houses are built for heat retention and there is no air-conditioning
Although we missed out on last year’s heatwave, which saw temps reach 40C in England for the first time, the year prior, 2021, was very hot and actually saw our hottest temperature on record. I can’t recall what it was – something like 28C.
The hottest temps I have experienced anywhere… struggling to recall but probably in southern Spain where we used to holiday a lot when I was a kid. I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced temperatures above 40C.
Have your potent thunderstorms struck yet?
“Let’s see who wins and at whose expense”
What I see possibly happening is going to cost all of us the greatest price.
No winners? Poor profit strategy by the species?
I hope/wishful think I’m wrong.
Back in the 60s an old codger ask: “If shit happens why can’t it happen to someone else once in a while” 😉

For sure. The 1913 Death Valley record at No. 1 on that list will take some topping, not least because it is now widely regarded as unreliable, but of course it will fall.
