Hong Kong sees record for hottest day in September broken twice.

The Hong Kong Observatory said a temperature of 35.4 degrees Celsius (95.7 Fahrenheit) was recorded on Tuesday afternoon, “once again breaking the record for highest temperature in September” since the city started keeping records in 1884.

“The previous hottest September day of 35.3C (95.5F) was set just last Monday, toppling a record that had stood since 1963.”

Rare ‘triple dip’ La Niña declared.

“The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has announced that the weather phenomenon La Niña has formed for the third consecutive year in the Pacific. This is only the third time since records began that there have been three consecutive La Niña events.”

‘Unprecedented times’: floods ranked as Australia’s costliest ever disaster.

Hawaii’s prolonged drought is pushing native species to the brink.

West Palm Beach breaks record of consecutive days with 90-degree temperatures…

“On Monday, West Palm Beach broke a record for a string of 90-degree days, according to the National Weather Service. The old record of 71 consecutive 90-degree days was set in 1951. Monday’s high temperature in West Palm Beach was 93. The streak of 90-degree days began on July 3.”

Shocking pictures show Peak District reservoirs [UK] are at record low.

France saw record temperatures for September hit the country, notably the southwest, amid a heatwave drifting up from Morocco, the Meteo-France weather service said Monday.

“The thermometer hit 39.1 degrees Celsius (102.4 degrees Fahrenheit) at Mont-de-Marsan in the southwestern Landes department and 39C at nearby Dax.”

The wildfire that broke out last Thursday (8 September) in the Granada municipality of Los Guájares continues to rage and level one of the Emergency Plan for Forest Fires in Andalucía has been declared.

“After a “complicated” night that means the districts of Acebuches and Ízbor, in the municipality of El Pinar in Granada province are cut off, it was hoped that the rain would help dampen the flames.”
