Hi
Im prepping to host a local climate mobilization event here at Old9-9 Farm, Copetown ON. Your blog is giving me lots of talking points. I’m preparing suggested reading lists of ‘best climate communicators’ and ‘best climate scientists’. I’ll send you the work in progress and would like your referrals too.
Here’s the itinerary for our community event on sat Sept 18, equinox.
How will we know that real action is happening to reduce the worst of climate disruptions?
When we see friends, neighbours and relations living their lives differently.
How will they know? when they see us living our lives differently. So the intent is celebrating local initiative. Family friendly of course.
2pm arrival for welcome and sharing a marketplace of ideas (see below)
4 to 6: assembly of citizens: to hear the science and grieve the consequences
6pm to 7:30 dinner and drumming
7:30 Music by The Rewynds, a pop rock group with climate connections Dancing and Open Mic
Climate Mobilization Marketplace
I am inviting others to have a table to display ideas about local climate mobilization. Activities that could be showcased include food harvesting and preserving, seed saving, treeplanting, downsizing and rightsizing, tiny houses, nature walks, deep renovation of homes, repurposing yards, neighbourhood resilience clubs, energy footprint checkups, suburban retrofitting, and etc.
(will be rain or shine, may need a bigtop tent. will use eventbrite to keep track of numbers so we don’t go over the covid outdoor gathering limit.)
Hi Ian. I hope it goes well! JP
